About I am Twila Collyer. I am firstly a wife and mother, but running a close second... I am a birth doula and childbirth educator.
I have a bachelor of science degree in nursing from the University of Alberta. Prior to the birth of our children, I worked at a busy Labour and Delivery Unit in a Calgary Hospital for 5 years. I have been a Certified Birth Doula (through DONA) since 2009 and a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator since 2010. I am also a member of the Calgary Doula Association. (www.calgarydoulas.ca) I also work closely with a small group of birth doulas and post partum doulas, these ladies are most often my back up and extra support for my clients. I live just south of Calgary, Alberta and am able to take clients in the Calgary, Okotoks, High River, Black Diamond, Turner Valley and Cochrane area.

I have been privileged to be present at births in all three Calgary hospitals, High River Hospital, Canmore Hospital and many Homebirths (most of which where Waterbirths).

An initial consultation visit with you and your partner at no obligation
At least two prenatal visits.
Available to help (via email or phone) with questions and concerns throughout your pregnancy.
Assist in creating your Birth Plan/Birth Wish List
On call 24/7 for you starting at your 37 weeks date.
Continuous labour support for you once your labour has started and I stay with you for a couple hours after the birth of your baby.
Photos of your labour and delivery.
A birth day story, written to your baby for you all to enjoy.
On call 24/7 for the first week after the birth of your baby to help with any concerns and breastfeeding issues.
Followup visit 1 - 2 weeks after delivery
Extensive lending library for you to borrow from.
Prenatal Classes
I also provide private and small group Prenatal Classes. I recently took the Passion for Birth Childbirth Educator course and am on a mission to "stomp out boring prenatal classes" Providing women,their partners and families with up to date and current information about childbirth. Education is Power!
